AC Catenaccio 2 – 0 KLCC United

It was such a good weather to start the morning cool breeze after the dawn rain, the kind of setting you’d want for aperfect football day. United came early, as always, with the squad arriving at the pitch as early as 7:30AM to prep for theopening clash against AC Catenaccio.

The game kicked off on balance. Both teams were cautious yet calculated, carefully planning their offensive strategy.But for the first 15 minutes, neither side could find the finishing touch to break the deadlock.

Then, disaster struck. A moment of confusion at United’s backline, just outside the penalty box, gifted AC Catenacciothe chance to flick the ball forward and slot it into the net. United’s protests for offside were waved away by the referee.Halftime: 1-0.

The second half restarted, but it was déjà vu. United’s offensive department seemed to have lost “the soul” and thehunger to finish. Coach rolled the dice with substitutions, fresh legs came in, but the spark was still missing.

Disaster struck when a free kick was awarded to AC from just 30 meters out. The strike rattled the crossbar and fellperfectly to the AC captain’s feet. With all the time in the world, he unleashed a shot from outside the box straight to thetop corner. Fazrul’s (SKLCC) fingertip save wasn’t enough. United stunned. 2-0.

The team tried to rally back in the last 10 minutes, and for a moment AC lost focus United almost found the goal.Almost. But almost doesn’t win matches.
